From here you can enable Touch Bar support and modify the settings. From here, click 'General Touch Bar Settings' to open up the window shown below. Or you can kick off an Automator workflow. To get started, open up the settings in BetterTouchTool and click the Touch Bar settings. (Apple actually recently removed this standard-issue feature from macOS Sierra, but BetterTouchTool lets you get it back!) There are so many possible permutations - and if all the options aren’t enough, you can associate buttons with your own scripts written in AppleScript. If you’re not up for tinkering, you can just add canned “widgets,” including one that shows your MacBook’s estimated battery life. And each button can perform multiple functions at once if you like. You can use those custom buttons in all apps, or you can set up special buttons for use only in certain apps. The app lets you create and manage custom buttons for your Touch Bar. (BetterTouchTool also lets you make custom functions for Apple’s Magic Mouse, Magic Trackpad, and Siri Remote, and even for a Mac’s keyboard or trackpad, but I’m not going to address those capabilities here.) It’s called BetterTouchTool, from independent developer Andreas Hegenberg of Germany. And, as far as I can tell, there is just one app for the Touch Bar that really makes a difference in day-to-day work. It lets you stack multiple windows while making the best use of screen real estate. Therefore, we suggest using OneMenu, an intuitive and practical window-management utility for macOS. But if you’re going to spend the extra money on a laptop that has one of these doohickeys, you might as well get the most you can out of it. Intuitive window management is probably the first and most important thing you would miss when you switch from Windows Mac. Plugins are installed at this location: /Library/Application Support/BetterTouchTool/Plugins. Starting with version 3.818 BetterTouchTool supports Touch Bar, Stream Deck and Action plugins. That is my main objective getting rid of useless junk. That’s all well and good. This repository will contain examples on how to create BetterTouchTool plugins. Im trying to get rid of old apps and files from my 16" 2021 MBPro M1 Max that were transferred over and getting rid of old apps and their files from my mid 2012 15" and my 2015 13" Im looking Top level commenters opinion and for Apple to respond or do you ask apple elsewhere?īeen reading these apple communities since 2012 and never here Top Level ever recommend Those Programs. why would they be in the App Store when all high end & well respected commenters frown on adding any program that modify Mac OS.ġ) Can Someone from Apple confirm is this a fact / Do MBPro's need a cleaning App?Ģ) If yes what does Apple Recommend any Cleaning APP?ģ) Does Apple recommend any App remover to remove everything all files with the unwanted App? I am more concerned with apps like CleanMyMacx or Mac keeper cc cleaner, which are pushed so hard through ads everywhere, if the above mentioned apps are not good for Mac OS as said by Apple Top Level Commenters. Is there a good Apps that Apple Recommends? Ive always been led to believe that Apple does not need malware or antivirus, clean up apps or organizing apps. Fixing the fusion drive will require erasing the entire Fusion drive. You will need a good Time Machine backup. See: How to fix a split Fusion Drive - Apple Support When I look at that touchbar I wonder is this all Apple could bring as. I suspect that if you corrected the Fusion drive, you would restore good performance using the internal drive. install BetterTouchTool so you could customize things the way you want. That was likely the cause of the performance problem the whole time. However, you have a Fusion drive that is disconnected. In many cases, when users only have the built-in mechanical hard drive, an external SSD boot drive can provide a significant performance improvement. I strongly suspect that you have some kind of software problem that is interfering.Īlso, I'm skeptical of that advice. However, your external SSD is running much more slowly than it should. Your old, Mac App Store version of EtreCheck can't see what software that is. You have some unknown 3rd party software that is running out of control. Unfortunately, I can't give you a link to it here in the forums. Please download the current version of EtreCheckPro. It should never be used on a modern computer.
